Saturday Mornings:

It is funny how saturday mornings have changed over the years. I had my kids early in life. Married at 20, first baby at 21. And I always had to work because I married young. When the kids were little, they would wake me up at like 6am and I would wish for the days they could make their own cereal and let me sleep just a little longer. Then at 6 years old, they got their own cereal and watched cartoons until 8 and it was nirvana. My mornings started a little gentler. The teen years I was back to being up early for a variety of sports activities and school activities. Sitting on bleachers or being at various events.

Now, they have jobs and either go to school full time or part time - the oldest worked an overnight shift, stumbled in at 8am and will sleep all day - the 19 year old will probably wake up around 11am - (she needs her beauty sleep) and then do some chores, visit friends and then homework for college. I have her home one more year until she transfers to a university.

Now my saturday mornings consist of my husband and I just quietly sitting on the couch looking at each other - The dog snoring and the tv playing. I miss the 3 year old clammoring for cereal. Or the 13 year old needing to go to football practice. My memories today keep me company.
